Lucknow: In a joint operation carried out by the Sarojininagar Police and the Surveillance Cell under the supervision of DCP South, a major oil theft gang has been busted. The accused were stealing oil from tankers coming out of the depot and mixing it with chemicals before circulating it through illegal channels.
Five notorious members of the gang have been arrested in connection with the case. The police have seized one oil tanker, a Scorpio SUV, a pickup truck, a motorcycle, and several other items used in the operation.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the accused had been running the racket for some time, siphoning oil and adulterating it with chemical substances before selling it in the black market. Further inquiries are underway to trace the full extent of the network and identify additional accomplices.
Authorities have praised the swift coordination between local police and surveillance teams, stating that this crackdown sends a strong message against organised fuel theft operations in the region.
